The Elham Chalk Pit is a local beauty spot on the edge of the village which has become a wild-life haven. Throughout the year the Chalk Pit displays a wide variety of the indigenous flora of the district. A board is displayed at the entrance to the site showing in a delightful manner the wild flowers and insects that abide by the pit. Also shown are attractions like Mary's Seat that was carved by local ladies from part of a tree that was felled during the great storm of 1987; from it is enjoyed one of the best views available of the village of Elham nestling in its peaceful valley with views extending to the opposite side of the valley and to the Village Hall and beyond.
