The site originally had three small cottages/rooms on it as can just be seen here in the left of the picture. These were used amongst other things as a school, meeting rooms and green grocers. They were eventually knocked down in the 1950’s.

The plot of land was then used as a garden for the Methodist Church.

Sadly the church had a massive problem with dry rot and money had to be raised quickly. Therefore it was decided to  sell the land to Sandy Hall, a local and well respected builder.

Sandy built the new property during 1985 and 1986 using traditional materials and methods. This was important as his project was a rare and unique opportunity to build a new house in the heart of the conservation area. Therefore the walls are constructed of locally supplied bricks and the roof is made from Kent peg tiles.

Eden House today.
