The history of the present house appears to date from 1387, with the execution of Sir Simon Burley, when the old Palace of the Earls of Eu, situated on the site of St.Mary's Church Hall  was demolished.

 It is 'L' shaped and consists of the old hall and a large wing extending down Cullings Hill. The house is charming, with old beams and panelling.
